Kegiatan berdiam diri di rumah atas arahan pemerintah, semula memang terlihat sangat menyenangkan. Segala sesuatunya dapat dilakukan dari rumah. Kita menjadi punya lebih banyak waktu untuk duduk bersama orang-orang terkasih yang selama ini barangkali hanya kita temui di waktu-waktu tertentu, sebab kesibukan masing-masing.
 
Namun, memasuki bulan keenam sejak pertama kali arahan berdiam-di-rumah dikeluarkan, rasanya tidak ada lagi kegiatan di rumah yang belum kita lakukan. Akhirnya, rasa bosan menjadi teman terbaik dan banyak pekerjaan yang justru terbengkalai sebab kita lebih sibuk mengajak diri sendiri berdialog agar mood baik bisa terus hadir sepanjang hari.
 
Di tengah perasaan tidak ingin melakukan apa-apa itu, pada bulan September Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (KEMENPAREKRAF) bekerja sama dengan SALAKA.edu dan Indonesia Film Community Network (IFCN) menyelenggarakan Fasilitasi Ide Sinema Kreatif (FESTIF) 2020. Suatu kegiatan dimana seluruh komunitas film di nusantara diberi kesempatan untuk mengajukan proposal film pendek dan jika terpilih, akan mendapat fasilitasi pembiayaan produksi.
 
Sebagai sebuah komunitas film di Makassar, Imitation Films pun turut serta mengajukan proposal film pendek dan proposal tersebut terpilih bersama 19 proposal lainnya. Kami menjadi satu-satunya komunitas terpilih dari Makassar. Dalam proposal itu, kami mengajukan satu ide cerita dengan mengambil latar waktu pandemi covid-19 di Makassar.Ide cerita ini lahir sebagai respon atas situasi saat ini, dimana seluruh masyarakat diminta berdiam diri di rumah serta mengurangi interaksi dengan tetangga. Lalu kami berpikir, bagaimana jika di suatu situasi ada seorang lanjut usia yang tinggal sendirian di rumah dan meninggal? Bagaimana orang-orang akan tahu? Siapa yang akan menolongnya sementara pintu-pintu rumah tertutup rapat dan tidak ada interaksi yang terjadi. Berangkat dari kegelisahan inilah akhirnya film Sembilu lahir.
 
Sembilu bercerita tentang seorang ibu yang senang bersosialisasi tetapi terpaksa harus berdiam diri di rumah dan tidak melakukan interaksi fisik dengan tetangganya seperti hari-hari sebelum pandemi karena pemerintah mengimbau masyarakat untuk berdiam di rumah. Melalui Film ini kami berusaha menghadirkan perasaan seseorang yang sangat ingin keluar dari rumah tetapi di waktu yang bersamaan harus mengikuti anjuran pemerintah.
 
Dalam proses produksi film Sembilu, kami hanya punya waktu satu bulan untuk melaksanakan proses pra-produksi hingga pascaproduksi. Dan dalam prosesnya, kami memilih Rumata’ Art Space sebagai tempat untuk melangsungkan pra-produksi. Pilihan ini didasari dengan pertimbangan kemudahan akses menuju lokasi Rumata’Art Space yang berada di tengah kota. Selain itu, menjadi tempat yang nyaman untuk melangsungkan rehearsal dan reading bersama para aktris sebab jauh dari kebisingan.
 
Rehearsal dan reading bersama dua aktris film Sembilu dilaksanakan pada tanggal 18 dan 19 Oktober. Kegiatan ini dimulai sejak pukul 10 pagi hingga pukul 5 sore. Adapun yang turut hadir selama proses berlangsung ialah Rachmat Hidayat Mustamin selaku sutradara film Sembilu, Zhaddam Aldhy Nurdin selaku produser film Sembilu, dan Jo sebagai Art Director. Tidak ada kesulitan besar yang kami temui selama berproses hingga persiapan ini pun dapat berjalan dengan baik. 

Ada pun beberapa dokumentasi yang dapat kami ambil selama berproses di Rumata’ Art Space:

Staying at home under the direction of the government seemed very fun at first. Everything could be done from home. We’d have more time to sit with loved ones who we probably only catch up with at certain times, because of how busy each of us is.
 
However, entering the sixth month since the stay-at-home directive was first issued, it seems that we have exhausted all possible activities at home. We’ve been left with the boredom of being our own best friend and neglecting a lot of work because we are too busy thinking of ways that we can continue to enjoy a good mood throughout the day.
 
In the midst of that feeling of not wanting to do anything, in September, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (KEMENPAREKRAF), in collaboration with SALAKA.edu and the Indonesia Film Community Network (IFCN), organized the Facilitation for Creative Cinema Ideas (FESTIF) 2020. An activity where all in the archipelago’s film community were given the opportunity to submit short film proposals and if selected, receive production financing support.
 
As a film community in Makassar, Imitation Films also participated in submitting a short film proposal and the proposal was selected along with 19 others. We are the only community from Makassar to be selected. In that proposal, we put forward a story idea based on the Covid-19 pandemic in Makassar. The idea of ​​this story was born as a response to the current situation, where all people are asked to stay at home and reduce interactions with neighbours. Then we thought, what if in a situation an elderly person lives alone at home and dies? How will people know? Who will help them while the doors of the house are tightly closed and no interaction can take place. From this anxiety, the film Sembilu was finally born.
 
Sembilu tells the story of a mother who likes to socialize but is forced to stay at home and not have physical interactions with her neighbours, as in the days before the pandemic, because the government urges people to stay at home. Through this film, we try to convey the feelings of someone who really wants to get out of the house but at the same time must follow the government's recommendations.
 
In producing the Sembilu film, we only had one month to carry out the pre-production to post-production process. And in the process, we chose Rumata' ArtSpace as a place for pre-production. This choice was based on the easy access to the location of Rumata' ArtSpace in the middle of the city. In addition, it is a comfortable place to do rehearsals and readings with the actors and actresses because it is far from the noisy areas.
 
Rehearsal and reading with two of the film’s actresses took place on October 18 and 19. This preparation went from 10 am to 5 pm. Those who were also present during the process were Rachmat Hidayat Mustamin as the film’s director, Zhaddam Aldhy Nurdin as the film’s producer and Jo as the Art Director. We encountered no major difficulties during the process so these preparations went well.

Sinopsis Singkat Film Sembilu:
Di tengah wabah pandemi yang terus meningkat, Puang Tija diminta oleh Akram, anak lelakinya yang sedang keluar daerah, untuk tetap berada di rumah dan mengurangi interaksi dengan tetangga. Hal ini menjadi tantangan tersendiri untuk Puang Tija yang senang bergaul tetapi sebisa mungkin ia tetap menjalankan pesan dari Akram meskipun setiap kali ada kesempatan berinteraksi dengan tetangga, Puang Tija selalu berusaha memperpanjang percakapan.
 
Suatu hari, Puang Tija tidak menyadari kalau ia ternyata sudah terjangkit virus covid-19 dan sebab ia sendiri punya penyakit bawaan, maka virus itu bekerja dengan lebih cepat di dalam tubuh Puang Tija. Puang Tija pun menjalani waktu-waktu terakhir seorang diri di rumah dan berhasil ditemukan oleh 2 petugas kelurahan yang saat itu datang untuk melakukan penyemprotan di rumah Puang Tija.

Brief Synopsis of Sembilu:
In the midst of an intensifying pandemic, Puang Tija is asked by Akram, his son who is out of the area, to stay at home and reduce interactions with neighbours. This is a challenge in itself for Puang Tija, who likes to socialise. But he continues to heed Akram’s message as much as possible even though every time there is an opportunity to interact with neighbors, Puang Tija always tries to extend the conversation.
 
One day, Puang Tija does not realize that he has been infected with the Covid-19 virus and because he has a congenital disease, the virus takes hold faster in Puang Tija's body. Puang Tija also spends his last hours alone at home and is found by 2 village officials who go to Puang Tija's house to do disinfectant spraying.
